Born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana, Stacy graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart at Grand Coteau, Louisiana, in 1988. She attended H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College at Tulane University, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and English. She earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University College of Law at New Orleans in 1995. While a third year law student, Stacy participated in Loyola's Law Clinic, which allowed her to represent indigent clients under the supervision of a licensed faculty attorney.
Following law school, Stacy entered private practice in New Orleans for a short time before moving back to Acadiana, where she served as a judicial law clerk in the 27th Judicial District Court for St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Thereafter, she returned to private practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense, commercial general liability defense, oil and gas law, toxic tort law, maritime and platform personal injury defense, and expropriation and trespass prosecution and defense.
Stacy is licensed to practice in all state courts of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Acadiana Inn of Court in Lafayette and the Louisiana Bar Association.
Stacy is married to Richard R. Kennedy III, and they reside in Lafayette, Louisiana.
