Steve is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and has resided on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain since 1984. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tulane University in 1971. He earned his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University School of Law in 1974, and graduated from the Graduate Course (ABA-accredited LLM), the Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1980.

Upon graduating from the Louisiana State University School of Law, Steve served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps with the final rank of Major, serving in the United States and Germany with duties including Chief of Military Justice, Chief of Legal Assistance, Chief of Criminal Defense, Acting Staff Judge Advocate of a Division and Military Trial Judge. Since 1983, Steve has been involved in handling all types of civil litigation for major insurers and governmental entities. He was the proprietor of the Law Offices of Stephen A. Mogabgab from 1986 through 1990 and a member of the Board of Directors of Hulse & Wanek from 1990 through 2006 before joining Huval Veazey Felder & Aertker, L.L.C.

Steve is licensed to practice law in Louisiana. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals, and all state and federal Louisiana Courts, including the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the U. S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Steve is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, and the Greater Covington Bar Association. He is a member of the Louisiana and St. Tammany Home Builders Associations and has served as Chairman of the Associates Council of both organizations. He is a founding trustee for the St. Tammany Home Builders Charitable Trust and is past President of the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation.

Steve is married to Annette Jones, and they have two children.
