Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Christian graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal High School in 1993, where he served as Captain of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was a four-time state champion in track & field, and was awarded All-State honors in football. In 1997, Christian graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. In 2000, Christian graduated from the Loyola University School of Law at New Orleans, where he was a member of Moot Court. Christian was awarded the best brief award at the 1999 Tulane Mardi Gras Invitational Moot Court Competition.

Christian is licensed to practice law in Louisiana. He is admitted to practice in all state courts of Louisiana, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Christian is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Christian is married to the former Vikki Buscemi. They have a daughter, Olivia Rose, and a son, Erich Joseph, and reside in Mandeville, Louisiana.
